Water in your studio. Yes, water.
Water. Yes, water
I have been drinking water out of glass for 15 years. No Poland Spring or Aquafina has passed these lips in nearly 2 decades.
You see, I have PALb2 genetic mutation for breast and pancreatic cancer. My chances of getting breast cancer would reach 85% by the time I turned 50. When I learned this, I new I not only had to take prophylactic action through surgery, but also make environmental changes so I didn't feed the beast.
That's what led me to the water change. My research brought me to a news segment on the whale in the Pacific Ocean who are dying of breast cancer. When scientists started to study how whale were getting breast cancer, they found tumors in their mammary glands made up of plastic particles and chemicals in the tumors.
Mind blown.
That giant floating garbage dump of plastic in the Pacific Ocean was actually giving the whale breast cancer. So what is it doing to us? These plastic water bottles are sitting in delivery trucks, heating up, sitting warm on grocery store shelves allowing all these chemicals to leach into the water. Then we drink it -- and drink a lot of it.
As a woman-owned and health-centered business, I couldn't in good conscience sell or distribute plastic water bottles. If I wasn't going to drink it myself, I couldn't sell it to my clients.
So I switched to glass water bottles at my studio. I display them on a shelf and I have a take-one return-one policy. If they don't return one then I charge their card $5. Each bottle is an opportunity to educate about the dangers of plastic water bottles and they see and know that I'm looking out for them.
And now, 15 years later....every single client I have walks in with a bottle of Mountain Valley Water. They have converted their families to glass and are loyal followers.
So I challenge you to convert your studio. Get rid of the bubbler of plastic chemicals. Empty your fridge of the cancer causing water and go to Whole Foods and buy two cases of Mountain Valley, Panna or Saratoga. Be a role model for good health.
